The Dyker Heights Christmas Lights in Brooklyn are truly something special and a must‑see if you love the holiday season. Walking through the neighborhood feels like stepping into a winter wonderland with houses decked out in dazzling lights, giant inflatables and festive displays that go all out with color and cheer. The energy is joyful and contagious as families and visitors stroll the streets taking photos and soaking in the magic. Some displays are elaborate enough to rival theme parks and you’ll find yourself discovering new details around every corner. It can get busy on weekend evenings but that only adds to the fun and excitement of the experience. If you’re looking for a holiday tradition that fills you with wonder and puts you in the spirit of the season, the Dyker Heights Christmas Lights are absolutely worth the trip.

Such a great time! Our tour guide William and bus driver Juan were both so friendly and knowledgeable. They were super easy to talk to, willing to answer any questions, and truly made the experience that much better! Not only did we love the lights and little stands to purchase snacks and drinks but also learned so much cool information from Will along the way! Bus was super clean and comfortable. Tour was well worth it, we would certainly do it again. The tour was truly everything we expected plus more.

The lights are very nice as you can see. There's no reason to spend money and what I think is a lot of money for a tour. I drove there from Long Island and found parking a block from the main street with lots of homes decorated. I was sure to get there a little before 5pm and it wasn't crazy crowded. I also went after Christmas and on a weekday which is less crowded. After walking down the main street we circled back towards our vehicle and than drove around the neighborhood looking at other houses away from the crowds. So why only 4 stars, for us it was a two hour round trip drive and the main area could be viewed easily within 30 minutes or less depending on how long you want to stand and stare. Sure if you want to walk all around the area you could spend far more time but for us after the main area where the decorated homes were all near each other was enough, followed by driving around. Don't get me wrong, the families spend a lot of money having them decorated and it shows. I'm happy I went and even happier it was after the holidays, on a weekday and I arrived before it really got busy. Weekends and before Christmas I can imagine the insanity, that is not something I'd want to be a part of. Like I said, I'm glad I experienced but I think for me it's a one and done. To the families who make this possible for all to enjoy, many thanks 🙏

This was an amazing and free experience on Christmas Eve. The displays were huge and spread out through many streets. We liked the decorated houses between the 11-13th streets between 83-86th streets the best but the crowds were also the thickest here, especially the guided walking tour groups. There were hardly any cars driving through, it was mostly people walking. We started from the 13th street after exploring the pizza and bakery places and walking down to the intersection at 86th before making our way up through the lit up streets to the intersection of 10th and 82nd streets. There were small vendors selling popcorn and hot chocolate along the way.

The entire neighborhood transforms into a massive open-air holiday display, with houses covered in over-the-top Christmas lights, inflatable figures, and carefully designed themes. Each block feels different, and walking through the area is like moving from one festive scene to another. What makes Dyker Heights unique is that this isn’t a commercial attraction—it’s a real residential neighborhood where homeowners have been keeping this tradition alive for decades. The scale and creativity are impressive, especially in the evenings when all the lights are on. It’s lively but still charming, and you can really feel the holiday spirit in the air. If you’re visiting, dress warmly and be prepared to walk a lot. The best time is after sunset, and weekdays tend to be less crowded than weekends. It’s a must-see Christmas experience in New York and well worth the trip to Brooklyn.
